3 THINGS THURSDAY - 23rd Apr 2020

Pic of the Week

A stunning mound of mushrooms in our front garden this week. The brightest yellow, so healthy and vibrant. We also have a field of what I thought were edible mushrooms in the lawn space opposite the practice. After picking some for my lunch and cooking them, I decided to research if they are a safe variety as I was eating them. Apparently, the way you can tell is that if you end up in casualty after you eat them, they were poisonous. Sadly (or not) I chickened out and didn’t eat them.

Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.

1) A guy that got me thinking about getting back to nature...

Tony Riddle - Back to Nature.Tony is a super interesting guy with a wild background. He has spent years looking at the biomechanics of the body and how we can introduce ”nature” back into our lives. Check him out HERE. I was so inspired I’ve decided to take a look at barefoot running to see if I can improve my running and remain injury-free. I didn’t realize how much I loved my running until it was gone. I got so excited I bought a pair of these Vivo-barefoot Runners from Sole Distribution. Let me know if you are interested in a pair I can give you a discount promo code. I also booked a barefoot running coach for next week. Stay tuned for my experience.

2) A great fitness doco I watched on Netflix...

Fittest in Dubai. Top athletes from around the globe test their fitness in a four-day competition at the first-ever CrossFit Sanctional event. Let the games begin. Very impressive bodies and levels of fitness.

3) A great web app I’m using...

HotJar. Hotjar is a powerful tool that reveals the online behavior and voice of your users. By combining both Analysis and Feedback tools, Hotjar gives you the ‘big picture’ of how to improve your site's user experience and performance/conversion rates.

The Analysis tools allow you to measure and observe user behavior (see what users do) while the Feedback tools enable you to "hear" what your users have to say (the Voice of User). Definitely worth a look if you are wanting to improve the user experience on your website and help more people.

Ps. A challenging quote ...

“It is not light that we need, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake.” - Frederick Douglass

I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.

Have a ripper finish to your week.

Cheers, Dr. Ben
