Are you doing what matters?
We try and fit in as much adventure as we possibly can.
It helps with bringing purpose, learning and creativity to the day and gets us outside in the fresh air.
Although this may not happen every weekend. It also helps bring some calm to the chaos.
Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.
1) Adding a slow cooked brisket to my soup...
Quick Vegetable Soup with a Twist
Sorry, but as the nutritionist of the team I had to bring something health wise, haha! And as these slower and cooler months are very quickly approaching (let’s hope summer is back just as quick), the slow cooker has been brought back out and I am loving it. I made our usual winter quick vegetable soup the other day, but this time a slow cooked and shredded brisket. Well, I’m now converted, it was the first brisket I had cooked, and it melted away into the soup just perfectly. It also added some B vitamins and protein to the soup which is an added bonus. Keep an eye on the blog for the recipe as I am in the middle of putting it all together to share with you all.
2) Being part of the community and the joy, it brings...
Well, there goes my Sundays again. FOOTY IS BACK……
But….. I love it. I volunteer with my daughter’s footy team and I was talking to a friend the other day about how much it means to me. I didn’t realize it until I was actually talking about it. These girls on the team bring so much joy to the day and it bring purpose throughout the week. I think a lot of us take for granted some of the thing people do for our kids to be able to play sport and participate in extracurricular activities, as most sports are volunteer and community based. So, without the helping hand, these things wouldn’t be possible without us. This isn’t just relevant to kids, it’s also all the other organizations within your community such as soup kitchens, environmental work or working with the elderly. All of these situations bring meaning and purpose to you day. I highly recommend it.
3) Nostalgia...
I recently had a date day with my littlest love and we went to the movies, which mind you, I haven’t been to in YEARS!!!
We went and saw the highly anticipated Super Mario Brothers. I know…. We were pretty late to the party…. But did it bring some nostalgia with it. Growing up, that was the biggest game out there on Nintendo. All the memories came flooding back as soon as I heard the theme song, when Diddy Kong was mentioned, and the race back on the rainbow track to Peaches’ and. I definitely walked away with a full cup smiling ear to ear. A high recommendation if you have kids or not.
I wish you all the best on your journey, make a ritual of looking for the gold in your life, it is there, you just got to look.
P.s. The quote of the week is...
“The journey matters more than the destination.” - Unknown
I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, the moral of the story, or the learning you would share.
Have a ripper finish to your week.
