Are you doing what matters?
This morning's breakfast, one theme of my Three Things Thursday.
Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.
2) Being OK with doing nothing...
This past weekend we didn’t do much at all. To begin with I felt unproductive and lazy. It got me thinking though, why do we feel guilty taking it easy from time to time? Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves when it’s clear that sometimes, our bodies need to rest? Not only do our bodies need rest, but our mind also. Burning out not only effects us, but the people around us too. We become moody, less patient, unproductive in our working life and sometimes, just not pleasant to be around. So not only for the self care of yourself, but make sure you take the time to do nothing for the people around you too.
During that downtime I was just talking about, I’ve been doing quite a bit of reading. Picking up a good book and escaping into their world for a little while has been such a great way of decompressing and quieting my mind. At the moment I’ve become almost obsessed with anything Colleen Hoover, such easy reads that touch on so many different topics. From the lighthearted feelings of falling in love to some tougher topics of mental health, infertility, drug use and death. I’d love some recommendations of some books to pick up, I’m almost at the end of the Colleen Hoover catalogue and need some more options to turn to next.
Also… for those following along. Bread is still my nemesis.
P.s. The quote of the week is...
“More does not mean better.” - Unknown
I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, the moral of the story, or the learning you would share.
Have a ripper finish to your week.
Are you doing what matters?
Cheers, Dr. Ben
