3 THINGS THURSDAY - 31 Aug 2023

In a world awash with advice and inspiration, there’s a simple yet profound principle that often gets overlooked: practicing what you preach.
It’s not just about sharing wisdom; it’s about embodying it. There’s always something to learn!

Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.

1) Glucose Goddess...

Jessie Inchauspé

Not long ago, I stumbled upon a fascinating podcast discussion centered around strategies to avoid sudden spikes in insulin levels. This led me down a rabbit hole of exploring the long-term impact of these spikes on overall health. The podcast had caught my attention primarily due to Jessie Inchauspé’s  (known as the Glucose Goddess) refreshing approach to food, sidestepping the usual dichotomy of "good" and "bad" labels and delving into the significance of eating particular food groups in order instead. Her Instagram featured numerous studies that piqued my interest, and I noticed that reordering my eating habits in line with her insights generally made me feel better. Recently, I revisited both that conversation and another, aiming to rekindle the habit of mindful eating patterns I had adopted earlier.

2) Further studies...

Applied Kinesiology

The other weekend, I delved deeper into my ongoing course on Applied Kinesiology! An experience that always seems to provided profound insights into the intricacies of the human body.

The principles of Applied Kinesiology not only offer a systematic approach to assessing patients but also underscore the interconnectedness of the human body’s physical, emotional, and energetic aspects. This weekend’s immersion illuminated how each learning endeavor adds to my professional toolbox, which is somewhat empowering in order to provide more holistic and effective care to my future patients. Hopefully I’ll start making sense the sheer amount of information that has already been shared!

3)  Small wins...

In a world that often emphasizes grand achievements, it’s easy to overlook the power of those little triumphs along the way. These small wins are the building blocks of progress and the fuel that keeps motivation alive. They serve as reminders that every step forward, no matter how small, contributes to the larger picture of personal growth. Over the last week I have needed this gentle reminder!

P.s. The quote of the week is...

"Practice yourself what you preach."- Plautus

I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, the moral of the story, or the learning you would share.

Have a ripper finish to your week.

Cheers, Dr. Ben
