3 THINGS THURSDAY - 25th Mar 2021

Pic of the Week

Say hi to my new “man’s best friend”, Bronson. Last year many of you will remember Michelle’s (and our family's) Golden Retriever, Hudson went to doggy heaven. At the time I said to Michelle the next dog we get, needs to be my dog (and the family's). So on Thursday when I went home for lunch, Michelle and Eden greeted me with “you need to sit down we have something to tell (show) you”. They proceeded to show me a picture of a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy and let me know it’s just come available and if I wanted it, I had to decide and pick it up on Saturday. So on Saturday, we drove home from Gisborne with my new mate.

Ps. The family is loving seeing me pick up the poo, clean up the wee mistakes, and prep the doggy meals. Haven’t seen them laugh so much in ages.

Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.

1) A puppy thing I bought...

Dog Crate

This has been amazing in helping create a safe place for Bronson as he learns to explore his new world and a godsend at night to minimize the interrupted sleep. Super light and pack down to a flat shape to shift to new locations. This, we tried on Monday, by bringing Bronson to the practice. Disaster! Everyone wanted to show him some love, he got overtired, and you know what happens to babies when they get overtired. They get grumpy, irritable and start to whine. We’ve learned our lesson for now. I hope to make him a regular at the practice (like we did Hudson) when he gets a little older and more settled. Ps. (Sorry PetBarn) The same crate is available at K-mart for a ¼ of the price if you want to get one.

2) A fantastic drink bottle I have been using...

Camelbak Chute Mag Vacuum Insulated Drink Bottle(That’s a mouthful)

This great drink bottle makes hydration simple. The cap features an easy carry handle and a magnetic top that stows securely out of the way when open and is leak-proof when closed. Double-wall vacuum insulation keeps drinks cold for 24 hours or hot for 6. Strong and durable stainless steel with powder coat finish, easy to clean. I love being able to leave it in my car all day (because I forgot to bring it in) and at the end of the day take a drink and the water is still cold.

I bought mine from Amazon and amazingly it was delivered in 12 hours from order. The world has gone mad.

3) A fantastic consult I had with my Naturopath...

Jane Pincott

Lately, I have had some digestive issues after having a radical and very unwise change in my diet that just wasn’t going away. So, I went and had a consult with Jane. She drilled me on all aspects of my health. Super thorough and (like me) determined to get to the cause of the problem rather than just treat the symptom. I am still waiting on getting some test results from a super interesting type of blood test (more on that in next week’s 3 Things Thursday. If you have got any hormone or digestive challenges, Jane is definitely worth reaching out to.

P.s. The quote of the week is...

“Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.” Groucho Marx

I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, the moral of the story, or the learning you would share.

Have a ripper finish to your week.

Cheers, Dr. Ben
