Pic of the Week
Recent Planning Day at Deakin library. One of my strategies is to do my big thinking in places that stimulate big thinking. The state library is also one of my fav's.
Where do you go to do your big thinking?
Here are the top three things have made a difference in my week. They all seem to be on the theme of Thinking Bigger.
They might also be useful for you, or not.
1) A movie I've watched...
About time. This is definitely worth watching. I'm on my 5th time watching it.
Click this to watch a snippet I created.CLIP 1.
Basically, it's about a guy called Tim who can travel back in time. He gets to re-live moments of his life over again as he would like them to turn out, you don't have these special powers, however, you can decide to have a crack at doing it right the first time, and finding the joy in doing what feels right. So good!
A second clip is here:CLIP 2
2) A book I'm reading...
An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth. Colonel Chris Hadfield has spent decades training as an astronaut and has logged nearly 4,000 hours in space. During this time he has broken into a Space Station with a Swiss army knife, disposed of a live snake while piloting a plane, been temporarily blinded while clinging to the exterior of an orbiting spacecraft, and become a YouTube sensation with his performance of David Bowie's 'Space Oddity' in space. This book is full of great stories and the moral of how it applies down here on earth. Great holiday read.
3) Something I listened to...
TAO made easy. Alan Cohen delves into one of the world’s most venerated wisdom texts for answers and brings the lofty and enigmatic concepts of the Tao Te Ching(translated roughly into a the book of finding your character and inner strength) down to earth in fresh, easy-to-grasp language with practical, personal examples we can use to uplift our daily lives. It's not often (actually never) I get time to study religion or philosophy texts, and doing this one on audible made it easy (just like the title says). So often we read (listen) to stuff that is a comfortable match. For me listening to this was a step out of my comfort zone.
Ps. My favorite quote this week is "Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step." Lao Tzu. (Author of the Tao Te Ching)
I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.
Have a ripper finish to your week.
Are you doing what matters?
Cheers, Dr. Ben
