Pic of the Week
This is Dr Carl, a great mate of 30 years and my hiking and tent sleeping buddy. Like an old married couple, we understand each other, embrace our differences and share moments of our journey through life together. Blessed to have a friend like him, even though he is Vegan and insists on wearing crystal deodorant.
Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.
1)A movie I watched on the plane...
Richard Says Goodbye. It’s a great movie starring Jonny Depp, about life and how we often wait for impending death to finally live. It left me wondering how could I live more now without only 6months to live. How could I love more, speak my truth more and do better at putting my focus on things that matter the most. Not in the kind of classic “if you had a week to live” way but in a way that is sustainable for the next 40-50years. (Hopefully about how long I’ve got to live) where would you start?
2) Something I am using again...
Pen and Paper. I have found myself grabbing a pen and a sheet of paper and leaving appreciation (love) notes for people. Notes of thanks, gratitude, kindness or just thinking of you, and just It only takes me a minute. I have found it has turned what is often a secret internal gratitude for someone into something that has an impact on their life.
So if you have a pen and a piece of paper handy right now who could you leave a note for? Maybe one of your kids, your partner, a work colleague, your cleaner, or even your local cafe who looks after you every morning.(drop it under the door after they close so they find it in the morning) Could you go do one now?
3) A great buy I’ve made...
Sports t-shirt from Kmart.Only $6! I bought a few of these for my hiking trip. They were lightweight, a great fit, easy to wash and dry, and packed down to nothing. I was super surprised at what I found at K-mart that became a useful extra on the hike.
Ps. My favorite quote this week is“Never let your memories be greater than your dreams.” – Douglas Ivester
I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.
Have a ripper finish to your week.
Cheers Dr. Ben
