Pic of the Week

At the end of last week, Michelle and I had a great couple of days away in Sydney with 3 other couples before we boarded a cruise from Sydney to Melbourne. Early Sunday morning I was coming home after being out for a run over the bridge and swim in the harbour and I spotted this sign in a window. “You are exactly where you need to be”. I believe this to be so true. Everything we have in our life is a result of everything we have done. Accept it is perfect (for now).

Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.

1) Something great I experienced this week...

A 3 day Cruise. It was a heap of fun for 3 days (really 2). And a bargain. About $500 each for all the food you can eat and 2 full days of entertainment (the show on Friday night was amazing). Sailing out of Sydney Harbour was beautiful as the sunset and the lights came on. As Michelle and I are not cruise people it was a great trial run for us. Must admit it was made a heap better by also having 3 great couples along with us for even more entertainment.

2) Something I did this week...

Spoke at Rotary. It was an honour to speak to such wonderful people who are doing so much for the community. The group was full of real characters including Ray “The Bishop”. Ray did a great job moderating for the night, even though he did call me Rob all night and make some great old school (totally politically incorrect) jokes. It felt like Rotary was keeping the good old Aussie values alive. Values like community, mateship, lending a helping hand and most importantly not taking yourself seriously.

3) A terrific booking application...

Calandly. This great app gives people access to your appointment book, so you don’t have all the negotiating on the phone. Schedule meetings without the hassle. Never get double-booked. Calendly works with your calendar to automate appointment scheduling. I have started to use it for scheduling business meetings with suppliers and partners and it’s been fantastic. Plus the basic version is free.

Ps. My favorite quote this week is: “A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials.” - Lucius Annaeus Seneca

I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.

Have a ripper finish to your week.
