3 THINGS THURSDAY - 15th Nov 2019

Pic of the Week

The top picture is me with my mate Ryan halfway through the demolition works at the new practice location. Great day of knocking down walls, pulling up carpets and generally making a mess. The bottom two pics are from a couple of days later with the frame for some new internal walls going up. The funny-looking bloke in the bottom right corner (not me the other guy) is the world’s greatest chippy (sorry carpenter) Aidy. Aidy was one of the chippies (sorry carpenters) to do the work, building my home 10 years ago. It was great to give him building advice again, which I know he appreciated.
Ps. Wondering about the new practice? Check out next week’s 3 Things Thursday for all the goss.

Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.

1) Something I experienced...

A mate helping out. I was honored to have my good mate Ryan come and help me out with some demolition work in the new practice building. Many of us have friends that are there anytime we need them to help out. Ryan is one of those friends. The thing is though that whilst we have friends that are willing to help out, we don’t ask for help. Ryan didn’t just show up. I had to ask him for help. I think that is something I could get better at.

Asking for help when we need it, rather than waiting for it to be offered. Not everyone is a mind reader, but they are a willing helping hand.

2) A movie I watched this week...

Last Breath. This ripper docu movie is about deep-sea divers under (literal) pressure when exploration of the ocean floor off the coast of Scotland goes wrong, and relative youngster Chris Lemons becomes untethered and must survive with limited oxygen. It’s an amazing story that is told with a mixture of real and acted footage. Definitely worth a look, and whilst it starts slow it has a mindblowing twist at the end.

3) Something I used...

ClipScribe. This great simple online app lets you create sub-captions for your videos automatically while providing you a way to easily create very cool social media videos in minutes. It takes your video, transcribes the audion then adds it back to your video. Completely formattable for different social media platforms. Not for everyone but if you are into marketing online using video, its a must-try.

Ps. My favorite quote this week is: “I have learned that friendship isn't about who you've known the longest, it's about who came and never left your side.” - Yolanda Hadid

I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.

Have a ripper finish to your week.

Cheers, Dr. Ben
