Video of the Week

I thought I’d take a quick drive down to the new practice and give you a quick tour. Now it’s not done yet but we are getting close. Michelle and I are very excited to be having a fresh start in 2020. As they say a change is as good as a holiday, so we are spending our Christmas “Holiday” moving in and getting setup. As many of you know moving after 11 years in one spot is not easy nor has the decision to move and the ensuing decisions been easy. (see “thing” bellow)

Ps. No I was not operating my phone whilst driving it was all setup to record before I started and edited after I stopped.

Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.

1) A challenge I have had...

Making decisions. Sometimes we are so spoilt for choice. Actually not sometimes, all the time. Like a kid in a candy shop, committing to wall position, door size, paint color, wall to paint that color, sign size, floorboard timber, light position, light color, how many lights, benchtop, size of benchtop, powerpoint position, chair style, color of chair, is a challenging process. Ahhhhhhh! Because decisions by definition require you to cutoff (dissect) from something else.

The first thing is this. You never know it’s the right decision until you make it, and step into, experience the decision. Wall color, not until all the walls are painted (black) did I know it was the right choice (at the time). There goes the second thing. You are always making the best choice (decision) at the time. Yep, you never ever look at your options and pick the wrong, dumb one. It’s always your best option, your best decision at the time. Now sometimes down the track we reflect and realize one of the other choices might have been better. But at the time, you made the best one.

So… Where are you holding off on a decision? I challenge you, right now make the decision, step into it, experience it, only then will you know if it was the right one. Remember right now it is your best one.

Ps. That article in the link above by James Clear is a ripper. Worth a look.

2) Something I watched that moved me...

“We Choose To Go To The Moon” This amazing speech by President Kennedy, always sends tingles down my spine. We talked about making decisions above, well Kennedy stood in front of the world and declared that the US would make it happen. Despite advice that technology was 20 years away from making it happen, Kennedy declared they must achieve it in under 9 years. At a cost of over 20 Billion dollars, they achieved it in 8 years.

THIS Wikipedia article summarises it well. I wonder what is your Moonshot in 2020? What are you going to declare to the world (or just family and friends) that you commit to achieving in your lifetime, next 10, next 5 or even next year?

3) A stranger that knocked on my door...

Don from VHB Security. This entrepreneurial fellow sells security systems. He uses RealCommercial.com ‘s data base to find recently leased properties and then cross checks that with previously installed security systems. If there is a match he pops down, knocks on your door and does a beautiful sales pitch to upgrade your security system. For me the experience was not about his product but his system to set himself up for success on a cold call. That's a good salesman and business owner. Compressing for quality, finding a way to do less and produce a more consistent and productive result.

Need security? Here is Don’s number: 0403340104

Ps. My favorite quote this week isRemember, a real decision is measured by the fact that you've taken new action. If there's no action, you haven't truly decided.” - Tony Robbins

I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.

Have a ripper finish to your week.
