Pic of the Week

First, early morning swim in the bay. Again one of the things I did this week to help me get moving and back on track. There is nothing like the piercing stabbing pain on the top of your head from the cold water to bring you back to life. We sometimes make our life too comfortable. I love what I heard Jordan Petterson say in an interview this week. “Difficult times make men (and women) strong, strong men make life easy, and easy life makes men weak, weak men make life difficult” Don’t make life too easy for yourself. It’s in the tough times you find and create your strength and flexibility.

Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.

1) A great online tool I use...

Canva. This is such a great graphic design tool. It makes designing anything, and I mean anything easy. This week I spent some time creating my new logo for Clinic Success Coaching. (An arm of my coaching practice dedicated to helping clinic owners build great businesses and a life to match.) After completing the logo, every good business needs a T-shirt with a logo on it. Canva makes this super simple, including allowing you to print straight from Canva. 3 days and $30 later my T-shirt arrived.

2) Something that made me feel better...

Going to the Gym. What Dr. Ben doesn’t always feel good. Yep, there are times when life gets on top of all of us. Moments when we find ourselves in the “Dark Night of the soul” The hero’s journey always begins with the sun on their back, but eventually they find themselves in the night. It’s at this time they discover more about themselves and develop their character. It’s during this phase of the journey that many heroes will seek guidance outside of themselves (Yoda in Starwars) or do something that helps them through the journey (Take some magic elixir, train, etc). For me this week it was getting back to the Gym. I had let it slip for 2 weeks in the craziness that had been November. For me three key ingredients in the Gym Elixer were being back to my morning ritual, stimulating those magic endorphins and the feeling of being strong again.

I’d love to know what your strategy is to get out of the Dark Night of the Soul.

3) Something I’m listening to...

Impact Theory. I love the work of TOM BILYEU’S from Impact Theory. “Impact Theory’s mission is to pull people out of the Matrix, at scale, by giving them an empowering mindset. We do that by creating the best-in-class entertainment and educational content.” Great 1 hour shows interviewing some amazing interesting guests. Terrific for the trip to work in the morning.

Ps. My favorite quote this week is:“If we never experience the chill of a dark winter, it is very unlikely that we will ever cherish the warmth of a bright summer’s day. Nothing stimulates our appetite for the simple joys of life more than the starvation caused by sadness or desperation. In order to complete our amazing life journey successfully, it is vital that we turn each and every dark tear into a pearl of wisdom, and find the blessing in every curse.” - Anthon St. Maarten

I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.

Have a ripper finish to your week.
