Video of the Week

So this one is recorded in Bali on day 1 of the extra-long Australia Day weekend Michelle surprised me with last week.

It was designed as a quick adrenal reset (defrag) after 2 months of action setting up the new practice.

Sorry about the noisy kids having too much fun in the background when it was recorded but I had to get it done between chocolate indulgence afternoon tea at 4 and happy hour at 5. Ahrrrr the stress of holidays...

Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.

1) Something I’m thinking about...

Resetting my adrenalin levels. Do you ever get the day 1-holiday jitters? You know those feelings on day 1 of the holiday, difficulty relaxing, fidgeting, feeling a little grumpy, angry, irritable, or even a little miserable. It’s the withdrawal from the adrenaline and endorphins of daily life.

Whilst I love what I do, and feel I have a great life-work alignment, I am on every day.

Michelle recognized the need for us to defrag (just like the computer) and do a hard reset. We have found this is not something you can do with a weekend away which doesn’t give you the time to go through the withdrawals (and is often busy anyway). This is why it is important as business owners, parents and inspired workers that you create the space to defrag, and reset. Are you due for a reset? How could you create the time?

2) A gift I got...

Bottle of Champagne. Michelle and I were so surprised and honored to get a number of beautiful gifts to acknowledge and celebrate the opening of our new practice. Including a beautiful bottle of bubbly. For any of you who know about the 5 love languages, you will know there are many ways to show love (appreciation) to someone. They are Gifts, Works, Time, Touch, and Acts of Service. All the gifts truly made our day when they were given to us, and the bubbly made our evening when we drank it to celebrate the end of a successful first week back in the new digs. Want to know more about the Love languages check it out HERE. Worth doing the quiz.

3) Something I’m thinking about...

Helping Out Kids in need. I have had a couple of conversations in the last few months on the topic of foster care and providing a safe place for kids to be raised into healthy adults.

From parents who have become foster carers to helping out a school in Cambodia build a swimming pool. Michelle and I have asked ourselves how could we help. A recent article in the Age revealed that in Victoria alone over 5000 kids sleep in out of home care every night, 5587 Court applications were filed for protection against abuse and neglect of children, and astonishingly over 35 children (12-17) had taken their own lives in the last 10 years.

We are not sure what that helping out looks like in our lives but we have started the wheels turning by reaching out to OZ Child as a first step.

If you have done any work in this area I would love to know your experience and suggestions.

Ps. My favorite quote this week is :“Rest when you're weary. Refresh and renew yourself, your body, your mind, your spirit. Then get back to work.” Ralph Marston

I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.

Have a ripper finish to your week.
