Pic of the Week

Well the time has come, in 2 days I’ll be at the start line of Terra Nova 24. Terra Nova 24 is a classic non-stop 24hr adventure race involving trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, and other adventure disciplines. Our team of four, Ash (Biscuit), Jim (Professor) and Matty (Maverick) and I must navigate our way unsupported through an arduous 120+km course that is only revealed to us hours before the race. This pic is of the gear that will be packed into our 2 supply boxes dropped at two transition points on the course. Get the contents of your box wrong and you will be riding a bike with a paddle instead of a helmet and running with a PFD instead of a backpack. In fact, getting organized and planning for the race is part of the race. If you don't get a 3 Things Thursday you’ll know where to send the SES.

Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.

1) A great experience I had...

Rogaining at Cardinia Reservoir.Great early morning rogaining (navigating with compass and maps) session with my Adventure race team. Given that the race is all about using a map and compass we thought it would be a good idea to have a practice run at it.

Beautiful location with great facilities and unknown to most visitors a comprehensive Rogaining Course with 33 waypoints spread throughout the bush. Maps can be downloaded from the link above.

2) A couple of podcasts I was on last week...

Beyond the stethoscope. This is a podcast for veterinarians, healthcare providers and busy professionals who want actionable, implementable solutions surrounding work-life balance, accomplishing your goals and living your dreams.

HealthCare Rap.Each week in this podcast the flavorful duo of #digitalhealth influencer and rapper Jared Johnson, together with industry veteran Peter Balistrieri, challenges the status quo of healthcare marketing and technology in their unique style that both entertains and informs.

Both shows come out of the US and were a lot of fun to record. I think I bought a contrast to the usual guests with the underlying message that we need to be kind to ourselves as business owners.

3) Something I watched on Sunday...

UFC 248.Lazy Sunday afternoon slouching on the couch with sweaty palms, watching UFC (Ultimate Fight Championships) with my son Logan (he loves it). Yep, this sport is brutal, bloody, and badass on the surface but underneath there is a real skill, courage, and discipline. Not for everyone, but one of the biggest sports globally is now appealing to an ever-growing large fan base. Why? I’m interested in your thoughts.

Ps. My favorite quote this week is : “Anything can be changed. Anything can be fixed. Things that are broken can be fixed. And you don't have to be some billionaire or millionaire to do it. You just have to be a person with a vision and the passion to do it, and be willing to fight for it every day.” - Dana White

I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.

Have a ripper finish to your week.
