Pic of the Week

Damn, having the new practice just behind Aldi! For someone who NEVER went to Aldi, I have become quite a fan. This is my latest purchase after going with my daughter for a quick trip to get coffee pods, we came out with this Espresso Machine. With both of my daughters working at Winey Cow in Mornington, they have become quite the coffee snobs and “experts” at what good coffee should taste like. For $299 it looks impressive and I must say in their capable hands the coffee tastes like the real thing.
But... When used by anyone with "Dr." in front of their name, it produces a bitter, sour, brown liquid, and the milk-frother produces a watery flat overheated milk. Weird?

Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.

1) A TEDx talk I watched this week...

What makes a good life? Lessons from the longest study on happiness.

Robert Waldinger is a psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, and Zen priest. He is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and directs the Harvard Study of Adult Development, one of the longest-running studies of adult life ever done. The Study tracked the lives of two groups of men for over 75 years, and it now follows their Baby Boomer children to understand how childhood experience reaches across decades to affect health and wellbeing in middle age. Spoiler Alert! The study showed the key to happiness, health, and longevity was connection, socialization, and relationships. Loneliness kills.

2) A book I picked up this week...

The Great Game Of Business. The Great Game of Business started a business revolution by introducing the world to open-book management, a new way of running a business that created unprecedented profit and employee engagement. It’s a book about having your team, your employees understand the business, understand what goes on behind the scenes so that they act more like business owners within the business. THIS video helps explain the principles.

3) A podcast I was on this week...

Ready! Set! Goal! Podcast. Ready! Set! Goal! podcast shares insights, skills, knowledge, and experience of how to achieve your big scary goals, including fascinating conversations with the most awe-inspiring and motivated people from around the world, who share their secrets in achieving their goals, and will inspire you to do the same.

This podcast is for those who want knowledge, motivation, inspiration, and a bit of a nudge to move you closer to your goals. Whether it be in work or play.

The host is Donna Campisi, you may also know as Run Donna Run OR the Unlikely Marathoner, I'm an inspirational speaker, author, and adventurer, who knows a lot about goal setting. You can find out more HERE.

Ps. A quote to think about ...

“If it is your job to eat a frog, it is best to do it first thing in the morning. And If it is your job to eat two frogs, it is best to eat the biggest one first.” - Mark Twain

I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.

Have a ripper finish to your week.
