Pic of the Week
This pic is another beautiful winter morning after I just got out of the water from a quick swim. One of those character-building exercises that really help as a reset in my week. I must admit there is almost always a “do it - don’t do it” conversation in my head when I am lying in bed that morning. However, the thought of getting in early whilst the surface is a mirror, and catching the sunrise over the crystal-clear water always gets me up. Yes, it is cold but it's also amazing. There is a stillness and silence when you are out there that gets amplified in the cold. It is a place where I find my flow.
Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.
1) A ripper diagnostic tool for...
Discovering How You Do Flow.Flow is that magic place you sometimes get into when time stops, it feels effortless, your sense of self disappears and there is a richness to the experience. Whether you know it or not, you have a unique way to get into the Zone of flow most readily. Once you know what it is, you can do it more often on purpose. The Authors of the book Stealing Fire run training on how to achieve that state more often, but in this simple online test you can get a better insight into how you do it. There are 4 ways it is achieved, what is your way? Take the test.
Ps. Mine is “Hard Charger”, surprise, surprise.
2) Super useful Business marketing hack...
Geo-Tagging your images. What many of us do not know that many of the images we upload to the internet may have a hidden tag on them that tells google and any other search engine where the picture was taken. That is something to be careful about if it's a picture that is private, however for business pics we want that to show up in google searches. The way google knows is by looking at the Geotag. In the YouTube clip above the guy shows you how to do it. Apparently, it can add significantly to your SEO. It is a little bit of work, but we now do it to all images we upload in relation to our businesses.
3) Something I discovered…
Warm Foot Bath. My face on Pic of the week is probably a result of the intense stinging that comes into my feet when I first get out of the water and walk back to the car. Well, last week I met a couple of other swimmers who had just got back and were standing in a bucket whilst they were drying off. I discovered that they had brought with them a few bottles of hot water and had tipped those in the bucket to warm their feet. They said it was a game-changer. So, this week I tried it. Almost the entire swim all I could think about was my warm footbath afterward. It was amazing! If you are a winter swimmer it's a great luxury treat to give yourself. Try it.
P.s. Quote of the week is...
“Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong is its current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away.” Marcus Aurelius
I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.
Have a ripper finish to your week.
