Pic of the Week

Things or critters you see on an early morning walk. For 7 years I have been doing an early morning walk with a mate via the phone. It has been a Wednesday 6 am ritual that we have probably missed less than 10 times in the last 7 years. We each walk and talk wherever we might be that day even if we are overseas, solving the challenges of the world and our own. Over those 7 years, I have seen all sorts of things at 6 am. This morning it was a seal that had set itself up, on the Mornington Pier, it jumped down onto the rocks by the time I got time to snap this pic. What a cool way to start the day.

Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.

1) A great app on the iPhone...

Downtime. Think of this as a nap for your screen time. When you schedule downtime in Settings, only phone calls and apps that you choose to allow are available. Downtime applies to all your Screen Time-enabled devices, and you get a reminder five minutes before it starts. This stops you from spending too much time on your phone during the time that you value most, time with family and friends, time at work, time just sitting still without the noise.

2) A fantastic book for me, a plant-based eater wanting to ethically eat meat...

The Ethical Omnivore. The Ethical Omnivore is a user-friendly recipe and handbook that will open your eyes to a better way to buy, cook, and eat meat. Eating meat in the way we do currently, mass production line plastic packed meat, sources from environmentally unfriendly farms, often raised on chemical grain-based diets is unsustainable. It is destroying our planet and our bodies. It covers some interesting principles and philosophies on where you get your animals and how you cook them. Worth a read.

3) Something I’ve loved binge-watching this...

Yellowstone TV Series. This is an American drama television series on Stan. It stars Kevin Costner and follows the conflicts along the shared borders of a large cattle ranch, an Indian reservation, and land developers. It will cause you to buy a western shirt, buy a big belt buckle, and start drinking whiskey. Be warned someone seems to die every episode, but the acting, storyline, and love-hate relationships you will have with the characters will have you hooked. Best TV I have watched all year.

P.s. Quote of the week is...

“Don’t squat with your spurs on.” A Cowboy.

I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.

Have a ripper finish to your week.
