Pic of the Week
It is my birthday this week. In my family, we have a tradition on the birthday morning. Someone, usually me (although not on my own birthday) will get up early and cook a massive breakfast for the birthday person. Then at 7 am “Happy Birthday” by Stevie Wonder is put on the house stereo at full volume, whilst the birthday person has to sit up in bed for the big breakfast whilst opening presents.
Well, this year my wife took it to another level. I got the presents etc, whilst sitting up in bed, however, the breakfast was delivered to me in our spa at 7 am. I was lucky it was a magnificent morning with the sun coming up, birds were singing, the spa was hot, and Michelle's Spanish eggs were delicious. Not a bad way to celebrate my birthday and start my 53 years.
The cat in the pic is Timmy coming over to wish me a happy birthday (or steal some of my breakfast). I would love to know if you also have a birthday tradition in your family.
Here are the top three things that have made a difference in my week.
They might also be useful for you, or not.
1) Fantastic Weather Website I am using...
Windfinder.com. This amazing website will show you incredible graphics of the wind, its direction, the force now, and predicted into the future. Fantastic for sailors, kiteboarders (like I am pretending to be), and fishermen. Definitely, one to add to your weather checks even if it is just for planning a picnic on the beach (when out of lockdown).
2) A special 1st product I was given this week...
Sabco Antibacterial COVID Killer Spray. Not what you know, it is who you know that counts. A great mate of mine is high up the tree in Sabco (his identity will remain anonymous), and this week I became the first-ever person to get a spray bottle of the new Sabco COVID Killer spray. What is cool about this spray is it lasts for up to 20 hours on the surface you spray it on and will continue to protect that surface from contamination for up to 200 separate contacts. It goes live in all Bunnings stores as of this coming weekend. Perfect for shops, cafes, etc, when they open, to use on surfaces like Eftpos machines, tables, and chairs.
3) A documentary I watched on Netflix that impacted me and left me scared...
David Attenborough - A life on our planet. WOW! David is 94 this year and still has an incredible presence. He has been the soothing voice of nature documentary narration since the beginning of, well, nature documentaries. Throughout his long life, he has watched the natural world wither before his eyes. He seems tired of keeping quiet about it.
He paints the size of the problem as being too big to recover from. A Life on Our Planet manages to humanize an issue that can often seem distant, and somewhat abstract. In the beginning, it left our family in shock and to be honest scared. It reminded me of the Dr. Seuss Book, The Lorax, who speaks for the trees. He finishes the docu by saying this is his witness statement to the world, and that there is hope, but we must act today. WATCH IT!
P.s. The quote of the week is...
“It takes but one positive thought when given a chance to survive and thrive to overpower an entire army of negative thoughts.” - Robert H. Schuller
I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.
Have a ripper finish to your week.
